Volunteer with the Scottish Seabird Centre

We are incredibly grateful to our amazing team of volunteers, who play a key role in the delivery of our education, conservation, community, and fundraising work. We try to make sure our volunteering opportunities are as inclusive as possible and we warmly welcome new volunteers from all backgrounds with an interested in nature and conservation.

The SOS Puffin Project

SOS Puffin is the Scottish Seabird Centre's award-winning project to save the puffins on the islands near North Berwick. Run and supported entirely by a team of more than 1,300 volunteers, over 330 work parties have made regular trips to Craigleith, Fidra and the Lamb over the last 14 years.

The Great Nurdle Hunt

Nurdles are small plastic pellets about the size of a lentil. Countless billions are used each year to make nearly all our plastic products but many end up washing up on our shores, polluting the marine environment and negatively impacting wildlife and habitats.

You can help! The Great Nurdle Hunt, run by local charity Fidra, provides a fun and easy opportunity to help end plastic pellet pollution. The Scottish Seabird Centre is a proud supporter of this very important campaign.

Citizen Science

Citizen Science, or citizens taking part in science, has become a popular concept in environmental monitoring. Find out why and how to get involved!
