Craigleith is a small island less than half a mile from the Centre. There is a rich variety of seabirds and marine life and it is a particular hot spot for puffins.

Isle of May

National Nature Reserve, the Isle of May is a magical wildlife haven in the outer Firth of Forth. In spring and early summer the island becomes a teeming seabird city with thousands of seabirds returning to breed, including puffins, guillemots, razorbills, fulmars, kittiwakes and shags. In autumn the island is home to the largest breeding grey seal colony on the East Coast of Britain with over 2000 pups born there each year.
