Community Conversations - Tackling Marine Litter

Hear from those who are committed to clearing our beaches, what they think the key challenges are, and how you can help.

Join us for a series of speakers and a Q&A session all about keeping our beaches clean.

  • 25 April 7.00pm - 8:30pm

Marine litter is a growing problem and one that we can all play a part in solving. After recent storms have led to an increase in the amount of visible litter on local beaches, the beach cleans we run at Scottish Seabird Centre have proved more popular than ever. Taking part in a beach clean is a great opportunity to connect with the ocean and learn about our environment. At this event, hear from those who are committed to clearing our beaches, what they think the key challenges are, how they are tackling the issue and what you can do to help.

Each participant will talk about their own work and this will be followed by a Q&A session.

Participants:

Kerrie Flockhart, The Scottish Coastal Clean Up

The Scottish Coastal Clean Up are committed to helping clear the beautiful Scottish coastline of plastic pollution, working together with local groups and beach cleaning organisations. They have a boat available to assist more remote communities in the removal of collected marine litter from their shores. Their annual June event encompasses World Ocean Day on 8th June, and we organise other beach blitz events throughout the year across Scotland.
