Celebrate Scotland's Seas with Us

Join us this May to celebrate the wonders of Scotland's seas at our annual Marine Fest. Now in its sixth year, Marine Fest will run from Thursday 21st to Monday 25th of May. The fun-filled programme includes walks, talks, workshops and puffin express boat trips!

From beach cleans along the beautiful East Lothian coastline, to family-friendly dolphin watching, the programme will give people of all ages a taste of the magic of the marine world.

Thursday 21 May

Seabird Saunter from 10.30am
Join your guide Kevin for a mixed terrain shoreline walk with easy chat and a chuckle or two. We’ll look at what made this landscape, its history and why the seabirds need our help. Ages 16+.

Sea Watch Foundation Pop-Up Stand from 3pm
Come along and join Sea Watch Foundation for an afternoon of whaley good fun. Learn how you can become a citizen scientist recording marine mammals using our Sea Watcher app and see if you have what it takes to be a dolphin detective!

Meet the Scientist from 6.30pm
Meet Sally Tapp from Sea Watch Foundation and hear all about Orca Watch in its 15th year. This is an in-person event in our theatre.

Friday 22 May

Local Wildlife Conservation Talk from 11am
Come and join for a talk delving into the wonderful world of wildlife on our local islands: The Lamb, Craigleith, and Bass Rock. The talk will finish with a showing of our new short film 'SOS Puffin'.

Mini Rockpool Ramble from 1pm
Discover the amazing wildlife that can be found in the rockpools of North Berwick in this interactive guided ramble. Family friendly (ages 5+).

Marine Fest: Beach Clean from 2pm
Join our Conservation Team on a beach clean and nurdle hunt along North Berwick's beaches, where you'll be surrounded by likeminded people and the stunning wildlife and habitats you'll be helping to protect. Let's make our beaches beautiful and safe for marine life!

Saturday 23 May

Puffin Express! 10am
Marine Fest Exclusive Boat Trips! On board our custom-built, 55-seat catamaran, enjoy a 30-minute cruise around the island of Craigleith to learn more about the amazing seabird species breeding on the island, including almost 10, 000 puffins!

Shoreline Shenanigans from 10.30am
Dance like a puffin, dive like a gannet and cooo like a duck! East Lothian's shoreline hosts all sorts of wildlife and some of it needs our help. Join your guide Kevin on a fun quest to spot birds, search for volcanic rocks, and to find out about our own impact and how we can help our natural world. Family-friendly walk!

Discover the amazing wildlife that can be found in the rockpools of North Berwick in this interactive guided ramble. Family friendly (ages 5+).

Sunday 24 May

Puffin Express! 9am
Marine Fest Exclusive Boat Trips! On board our custom-built, 55-seat catamaran, enjoy a 30-minute cruise around the island of Craigleith to learn more about the amazing seabird species breeding on the island, including almost 10, 000 puffins!

Voice for Seabirds from 11am
Drop in to chat to our conservation team anytime between 11.00 and 15.00. Learn what we are doing to stand up for seabirds around Scotland and how you can help.

Seaside Scavenger Hunt from 1pm
Explore the shoreline for natural treasures revealed by the waves and uncover what they are and where they came from. Family friendly (ages 5+).

Birds for Beginners from 2pm
Join us for a relaxing 45-minute bird-watching tour to find out more about the birds that share our coast. Ages 16+.

Whale and Dolphin Watching from 3pm
Join us for an outdoor spotting session to learn about some of the amazing whale and dolphin species. Family friendly (ages 5+).
