Big Belly Rubbish Bins

As you enjoy your walks along our glorious beaches keep an eye out for the big belly bins which all feature seabirds drawn by local artists. These huge, covered bins should help keep our beaches and water free from flying rubbish. To ensure that as much as possible is recycled please separate out your food contaminated rubbish (rip the top off your pizza box or chip container before placing it in the bin) all East Lothian bins are mechanically sorted by East Lothian Council so they can recover as much recycling as possible, minimising the amount that goes to landfill.

The Big Belly Bin project is a collaboration between Sustaining North Berwick, Scottish Seabird Centre, East Lothian Council and the wonderful talent and skills of local artists. with generous funding from: North Berwick Trust, Coastal Area Partnership, North Berwick Community Council, St Andrew Blackadder Church and North Berwick Rotary.

Don't forget that the Seabird Centre is a Keep Scotland Beautiful Community Clean-Up Hub which means they have beach clean kit available to borrow if you're keen to do more for nature when you visit North Berwick.
