Strategic Biodiversity Framework For Scotland Announced

We welcome the publication of the Scottish Government’s framework delivery plan (2024-2030) for biodiversity today (27/11/2024) and the recognition of the need for ‘nature’ to be at the heart of all Government approaches and decisions. The framework recognises that seabirds alongside marine mammals and elasmobranchs (sharks, skates and rays) are the top three globally threatened marine species groups and need action to reduce the pressures on these.

Interactive Discovery Experience Re-Opens

The Scottish Seabird Centre has this week re-opened the doors of their interactive Discovery Experience to visitors. The visitor attraction has been closed since February 2024 following a devastating internal flood.

Scottish Seabird Centre is awarded £249,685 by The National Lottery Heritage Fund to increase the resilience and sustainability of its operations for people and nature Marine conservation and education charity, the Scottish Seabird Centre, based in East Lothian, was thrilled to receive a grant of £249,685 from The National Lottery Heritage Fund earlier this year. The funding has been awarded to improve the overall sustainability of the Charity’s operations, develop partnerships with business and to better steward and grow its membership base. Made possible by money raised by National Lottery players, the project is designed to help the Charity build a strong foundation for the future.

Celebrate Scotland’s Amazing Marine Wildlife at Marine Fest

One of Scotland’s leading marine conservation and education charities, the Scottish Seabird Centre is hosting their fourth national Marine Fest from 6 to 10 June 2024 in North Berwick. In response to the UN’s World Ocean Day 2024 celebrations, the festival’s packed five-day programme brings together scientists, environmentalists and nature enthusiasts to celebrate Scotland’s globally significant marine wildlife and habitats.
