Wild day out!

Puffins nesting, gannets diving, chicks hatching and seal pups snoozing - no two visits to the award-winning Scottish Seabird Centre are ever the same, with different wildlife throughout the seasons.

Be welcomed at the Scottish Seabird Centre, browse our gift shop and enjoy great local produce in our Seabird Cafe, which you can have inside or out on our sun deck, overlooking the Firth of Forth.

In the Discovery Centre embark on your own interactive wildlife adventure!

Interactive live cameras

With multiple cameras that you control, you can zoom in on amazing wildlife on the world-famous Bass Rock, the Isle of May (a National Nature Reserve), Fidra, Craigleith, plus Dunbar harbour. See different wildlife on each of the islands - our daily what's on leaflets will tell you what's on camera that day - you can pick these up on arrival.

Wildlife Theatre

Discover even more with a range of short nature films. Just now you can enjoy: Gannets - The Greatest Wildlife Show on Earth; Puffins - Clowns of the Air; Grey Seals - Off the Map; Seabirds of Scotland; Seabirds, Seals and Red Deer.

Migration Flyway

Take the tunnel to experience the dangers and difficulties seabirds face during migration. Find out how they find their way during these long trips and why migration is necessary for survival. At the end of the tunnel, enjoy the film Winged Migration.

Environment Zone

The Migration Flyway leads to the area which overlooks the harbour - The Environment Zone. This is a temporary exhibition area and there is an interactive exhibit which highlights the vulnerability of our planet and the consequences of climate change. This area also reviews the advantages of renewable energy. Just now you can vote in the Nature Photography Awards!

The Telescope Deck

Climb our exit staircase and enjoy another wildlife wonder! Our viewing deck looks out onto the Firth of Forth and surrounding islands. There is a further live camera plus there are also telescopes and binoculars with which you can search the water and islands for seabirds and marine wildlife. There are also other resources and books which visitors are invited to review.
