Now that you have decided which one, or two, of our amazing workshops you want to take part in you have to plan your visit. We know this can be stressful so we have put together a Teacher information pack with all the information you need to know including everything from booking information to parking and risk assessment forms.
Booking: Booking is essential for all educational groups visiting the Centre whether you are self-guided or taking part in one of our educational workshops. Please phone us on 01620 890202 or email education@seabird.org to discuss possible dates and arrange a provisional booking. Please have alternative dates available as we may not always be able to accommodate your first choice, particularly during the summer term.
Costs: Education packages cost £3.50 per school child (£2.95 East Lothian Schools), £1.50 for nursery pupils and include your chosen educational workshop and entry to the Discovery Centre.
Payment: All schools must pay the full balance on or before the date of the visit. Payment is based on numbers booked. Cheques, cash and credit/debit cards are accepted. An invoice may be raised with prior arrangement and must be settled in full before the date of the visit.
Cancellation: No refund will be given if you cancel less than 2 weeks prior to a scheduled visit.
Adult: pupil ratios
Age group Minimum adult:pupil ratio
Nursery 1 adult for every 3 children
Primary & Secondary 1 adult for every 6 children
There is no charge for teachers and adult helper within these ratios. Additional adults cost £6.50.
Familiarisation visits
Free planning visits are available to teachers. We recommend a planning visit to ensure your group get the most from their visit.
If you have any questions we are only an email or phone call away and are always happy to help. We aim to make your class trip as enjoyable for you as it is for your pupils.
